Why do readers read? They read not because they need to, but because they want to. They read not because someone told them to, but because they chose to. They read because they want to understand things deeply rather only know what their meaning is.
People say readers have no life. They couldn’t be more wrong; in fact, readers can have thousands of lives. They go on adventures. Adventures most people don’t care about. Adventures they laugh at and say ‘they’re only a waste of time’. Readers don’t get mad at you for that, though. They feel pity towards you and feel sad for you because you can’t experience the marvels of reading a book.
Readers have the special ability of escaping from reality. Readers can travel through time. They can experience the wonders of living in a world which is different from the world we know. Readers know a lot of things. They do not just read, they learn.
Most people don’t understand readers. Readers are sometimes emotionally unstable. Whenever the characters feel sad, they become sad too. Whenever the characters feel happy, they feel happy too. They feel sadness for a character that lost their battle or happiness for a character that won theirs. Readers don’t watch a battle from above; they are included in the battle. They have a special connection with the characters, a special, unbreakable bond.
Do you know how hard it is for a reader to close a book and end its story forever? Whenever a reader ends a certain story, it is like leaving something important behind. A reader’s companion through life is books. Books aren’t just useless bunch of papers with words written on them. Books can become a person’s life.
Readers chose a life full of excitement yet a complicated one. A reader can be anyone. If you are willing to understand what the true meaning of a certain thing is, which can be only fully understand through the help of books, a reader can be you.
